You need to dance. You don’t know when it started. Maybe it was the first time you held a dance partner in your arms and felt the magnetic attraction as you swayed together as one body with music playing. Maybe it was a piece of music that just got your feet moving to the beat. However it started, you love the magic of moving together to great music.
The Greater Vancouver area enjoys a strong dance community. The vision of two people in particular, Andy and Wendy Wong, allowed ballroom dancing to flourish under their 20-year leadership of The Grand Ballroom, Canada’s largest ballroom dance studio. After the Grand Ballroom closed, George and Wendy Pytlik, who assisted Andy and Wendy in more than 1,500 group class lessons over several years at the Grand Ballroom, began serving the communities south and east of Richmond. People from Tsawwassen, Ladner, Richmond, Surrey, New Westminster, Langley, Burnaby and Port Moody have high quality ballroom dance lessons conveniently close by.

Two facilities, one purpose
Both facilities have supported ballroom dancers for some time, and both have initiated new programs over the past few months to help provide even more support. Maxine Levasseur, director of instructional programs at Kennedy Seniors Recreation Centre, looks after the North Delta programs. Roger Everett and his wife Sherry have long been involved in coordinating the ballroom dancing activities at KinVillage for the South Delta community. Meet Maxine | Meet Roger
The goal is to establish Delta as a hub for quality ballroom dance lessons and activities in the Lower Mainland region.

Both facilities offer virtually identical ballroom dance classes. These include Level 1 classes suitable for those who have never danced, or who wish to review basics after time away from the dance floor and Level 2 classes perfect for those familiar with the basics who want to look good on the dance floor. The Level 3 class offer more extensive training focusing in detail on one dance at a time over several weeks.
In addition, private lessons and wedding First Dance training are available at multiple other locations.
There are also a variety of social dance opportunities which take place at both facilities. Check out the calendar for details.
