This Waltz video workshop presents a fairly simple and elegant grouping using the Left Whisk with a Standing Spin. These are advanced figures, but not especially difficult for social dancers.

In this group you'll discover how to lead the figures, and there is information to help you look good performing these in social dance settings.

You'll learn the figures included in this group with some technical details to help make you look good on the floor. The grouping begins with a Contra Check, though you can start from any figure that leads to Promenade Position. In fact, the Left Whisk can even be entered from a backwards moving figure. We originally filmed this at a Kinvillage group class, but the audio was not working so we re-filmed the groups later. The 27-minute workshop covers the following figures:

  • Contra Check
  • Left Whisk
  • Standing Spin
  • Right Foot Lunge, or
  • Impetus
