We are deeply concerned about the ongoing health risks of Covid-19, and are committed to our role in taking social responsibility to help our students avoid exposure.

The BC government recommends that we all minimize putting ourselves in positions of risk. If you don’t feel comfortable joining a dance class, just use the online classes, which we are continuing to produce.

The following procedures have been put in place to comply with BC government regulations and to help keep our dance community safe.

Group Classes

Group classes are limited in numbers.

In order to manage attendance, we require every participant to register online on the event page for each class they wish to attend. Locate the event in the calendar and click on it for the detailed information. Then select how many tickets you want. You’ll also be asked to fill out a Covid-19 self assessment which will appear on the ticket order page.

You may pay for your class at the time of purchase, or choose the RSVP option if you prefer to pay in person when you get to class, or if you are using a punch card. We are extending the expiry date of Delta Dance punch cards by one year.

Class size limits

The Level 1 class are limited to a maximum of 24 students. Our facility has 2,400 square feet of space so this allows 100 square feet per person or couple.

Low-Impact only

The BC government has a strict requirements that any fitness activity be limited to “low impact” which means that there is no sustained breathing or heart rate involved.

As a result, we are not going to be offering high intensity activities like triple-rhythm Jive or Quickstep until the pandemic risk has subsided.

Hygiene procedures

Masks are required at all times when inside the building. We have masks available for those who don’t have them.

We are spacing classes with 15 minutes between each class to allow the room to clear and for air to cycle properly before the next class.

Use hand sanitizer or wash your hands thoroughly before entering the hall and when you leave. We have sanitizers stations located in several places around the hall.

Plan to use the washroom at home if possible to minimize use of washrooms in the facility.

Physical distancing procedures

At this time, couples dancing together need to be from the same household, or “core bubble.”

We can’t have strangers partnering up casually the way they did in the past. Naturally, there will be no changing partners during the class.

Solo dancers or couples must allow at least 7 square meters of space around them at all times. This amounts to distances of roughly 6 feet from the next dancer or couple.

Please ensure you are distancing safely as you enter and leave the facility, as well as during the class. We need to work together to provide sufficient space at all times.

Private Lessons

For Private Lessons we require face masks at all times during lessons, and we have masks available for those who don’t have their own. Couples taking private lessons must be from the same household or core bubble.

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer any private lessons at this time in which a teacher is dancing with a student, due to the requirement that all couples are from their own core bubble.

All students are required to complete a simple online Covid-19 self-assessment form before each lesson, as circumstances could change from one day to the next.
