The BC economic community is gradually moving out of isolation, and we are looking forward to being able to teach again in person.

Dance studios in BC now have the green light to return to operations, provided that we have a comprehensive plan to keep everyone safe. We have created our plan and will start in June.

Not everyone is comfortable going out in public yet, and we respect that. We offer classes for those who are ready to take part. If you don’t feel comfortable, or if you’re in a high-risk group, just continue to use the online classes, which we are continuing to produce.

Group Classes

Group classes will start Saturday, June 6 and will be limited in numbers.

In order to manage attendance, we require every participant to register online on the event page for each class they wish to attend. Just find the event in the calendar and click on it for the detailed information. Then select how many tickets you want. You’ll also be asked to fill out a Covid-19 self assessment which will appear on the ticket order page.

Tickets will be issued digitally with a QR code that we’ll scan when you arrive. You’ll need to pay for your class with a credit card or Paypal account at the time of registration. Don’t worry if you have punch cards as we are extending the expiry date of those cards.

Class size limits
The Level 1 class will be limited to a maximum of 18 students. It’s a huge facility so this will allow plenty of room between couples.

Intermediate classes are limited to a maximum of 12 students because those levels move more and we want to ensure proper physical distancing is maintained.

Hygiene procedures
Masks or suitable facial covering will be required and we’ll have masks available for those who don’t have them.

You’ll be asked to use hand sanitizer before entering the hall and when you leave.

Plan to use the washroom at home if possible to minimize use of washrooms in the facility.

Physical distancing procedures
At this time, couples dancing together will need to be from the same household. We expect that to change over the next few weeks as rules are gradually relaxed. Naturally, there will be no changing partners at any time.

Maxine will have a plexiglass shield for protection at the front desk. George and Wendy will wear face shields during the class.

Another key issue is separation of people as you enter and leave the facility. Please ensure you are distancing safely. We need to work together to provide sufficient space at all times.

Private Lessons

For Private Lessons we’ll require masks at all times during lessons, and we will have masks available for those who don’t have their own.

We have disinfectant wipes available and require hand washing or hand sanitizer applications before and after every lesson.

All students are required to complete a simple online Covid-19 self-assessment form before each lesson, as circumstances could change from one day to the next. All prior forms of payment are acceptable for private lessons.
