Paso Doble 1

February 16 @ 12:45 pm - 1:45 pm

The Paso Doble is a dramatic dance based on the metaphor of a matador and his cape. The dance was developed in France from Spanish movements, so the steps have French names. Paso Doble means “two step,” a reference to the dramatic walks that make up the core elements of the dance. Many steps allow the couple to illustrate the movement of a matador swinging his cape. In eastern Canada and Spain, France, Germany, Vietnam and Australia, Paso is often danced in social settings. KinVillage social dances always include a couple of Paso Dobles.

You’ll learn a complete Paso Doble routine over six weeks. Figures range from Bronze to Gold, all of them taught with information on technique so you can perform the dance with quality. You don’t need any prior experience with this dance, but some Bronze-level experience with other dances such as Tango and Cha Cha would be very helpful. Join us to be ready when Paso Doble music comes up. No bulls are harmed in the teaching of this dance!
