Life Goes to a Party

Artist: Benny Goodman

Album: The Ultimate Ballroom Album 3

Song Length: 2:30

George's Thoughts: This popular hit was originally created by Harry James and his orchestra in 1937. Crackling with energy, it reflects the lively atmosphere of social dance parties in the late 30's and early 40's. A wonderful piece, and once used by Christopher Hawkins and Hazel Newberry for a show dance number. The song was so popular that on March 28, 1938 the popular "Life" magazine published a glamorous multi-page photo spread called "Life Goes to a Party." The photo shoot chronicled 14-year-old Judy Garland being honored as the "Sweetheart of Sigma Chi" an 83-year-old fraternity at Ohio State University. Takes a few seconds to get started.
